State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz this week helped present Chelsea with a grant for sidewalk improvements within the city.
The $130,571 grant from the Southeast Council of Michigan Governments (SEMCOG) will fund new ADA-accessible crosswalks near the corner of Freer Road and Darwin Drive, promoting safety and accessibility for all residents.
“I am thrilled to see these important sidewalk improvements coming to Chelsea,” said Schmaltz, R-Jackson. “Accessible infrastructure is critical in making sure everyone, from young children to our seniors and individuals with disabilities, can navigate our community safely. I’m grateful to SEMCOG for recognizing Chelsea’s needs and supporting this project to enhance our walkable neighborhoods.”
