Rep Whiteford condemns protestor invasion of Director Gordon’s privacy
RELEASE|December 18, 2020

State Rep. Mary Whiteford, chair of the House Health and Human Services budget subcommittee, issued the following statement regarding protesters who gathered outside of DHHS Director Robert Gordon’s home Tuesday evening:

“Protesting outside of Director Gordon’s family home is a reprehensible invasion of his privacy and is not the proper channel to voice frustrations with COVID-19 orders.

“While I understand Michiganders’ frustrations with current health and human service orders, it is never appropriate to show up to an official’s home and invade their privacy and disrupt the lives of their families and neighbors.

“Director Gordon and I do not always agree on what’s best for our state, but I have the utmost respect for him as a public servant and government official. I have personally reached out to him to communicate that message. I do not, and will never, support this sort of behavior under any circumstances.”
