Leader Hall: Likely tax relief for Michiganders the result of Republican leadership
RELEASE|January 13, 2023
Contact: Matt Hall

House Republican Leader Matt Hall, of Richland Township, today issued the following statement:

“With the people of Michigan hurting from inflation, I’ve worked in recent years to cut the income tax and give them immediate relief, but the governor vetoed those plans. Thanks to a law secured years ago by Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt and other Republicans, Michigan families could get relief this year. I’ll keep leading the way to achieve results for Michiganders and deliver immediate relief to make their lives more affordable.”

The Michigan income tax cut rate will likely be cut this year due to a law the Republican-led state government approved in 2015, which requires the individual income tax rate to decrease automatically if year-over-year state general fund revenues increase at a greater rate than inflation.
