Rep. Posthumus appointed to leadership role on House Agriculture Committee
RELEASE|January 21, 2021

First-term lawmaker will serve as vice chair

State Rep. Bryan Posthumus was appointed today by Speaker Jason Wentworth to serve as vice chair of the House Agriculture Committee.

The House Agriculture Committee is responsible for deliberating on all policy related to the agricultural industry in Michigan.  This includes, but is not limited to, issues regarding Right to Farm, Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), agri-business and agri-tourism.

“I want to extend a thank you to Speaker Wentworth for appointing me to serve as vice chair of the House Agriculture Committee for the 2021-22 term,” said Posthumus, of Kent County. “Agriculture is crucial to Michigan’s traditions, culture, and of course, economy. As a fifth-generation farmer, I know firsthand the many challenges presented in this industry and the value and hard work farmers put into everything they do.”

In addition to working in the fields his entire life, Posthumus also earned his bachelor’s degree in agribusiness management from Michigan State University.

Rep. Posthumus, serving in his first term as a State Representative for the 73rd District, will also be serving on the House Education, Insurance, and Rules and Competitiveness committees.
