State Rep. Alicia St. Germaine, R-Harrison Twp., issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s visit to Macomb County and his announcement regarding a new fighter mission at Selfridge Air National Guard Base:

“I am thrilled that President Trump is committing federal resources to support a new fighter mission at Selfridge. This mission is long overdue and essential for the long-term viability of Selfridge and our surrounding communities. This announcement ends the uncertainty, secures the base’s role in our national defense, and preserves the crucial contributions Selfridge makes to the local economy and the security of our community.

“The new fighter mission will help ensure Selfridge remains a cornerstone of our community for years to come. This is a proud moment for Macomb County, and I’m grateful for everyone who has worked tirelessly to make it a reality.
